概述煲機，英文名稱Burn-in，指新買回的音響器材得通電一段時間後才會讓重放的音質變好。
煲機原因
有些元器件例如晶體管、集成電路、電容全新的時候電氣參數不穩定，經過一段時間的使用後才能逐漸穩定。對於耳機來說，煲機實際就是在煲振膜折環，新耳機振膜折環機械順性差，導緻失真比較大，經過一段時間使用後，順性逐漸變好，失真也會逐漸降到正常的水平。
新的耳機，許多人都髮現耳機需要煲一些時候才更好聽。但絕不能用大音量、大動態或是電子音樂唱片，實際上煲耳機和汽車的磨合是一個道理，慢慢地磨合才會使機械部分(振動部分就相當於機械部分)得到最好地磨合，狂煲對耳機一點好沒有，煲不好的話音圈都可能會變形。
因此文火慢燉才有滋味，一般情況下，隻要使用就是在煲機;但有點就是，要使耳機達到最好最佳狀態，必須有一個科學的煲，那就是：一般用測試碟連續用30-40%的音量連續播放12-24小時(fm音樂颱也可以)休息一天然後有選擇的連續播放不同風格的CD ，5-10小時(包括人聲，交響，電子樂，流行)，接下來選擇你最喜歡的CD用較大的音量(你能接受的最大音壓)試1-2小時，最後恢複中等音量播放柔和的音樂(比如班得瑞或鋼琴曲)5小時，基本上煲機過程完成!之後耳機的聲音應該是相對最正常的!
一般新買回來第一週都是煲機的時間，一個月下來相對耳機的聲音已經95%都髮揮了，用了6個月(平均每天2小時)的耳機是煲的最佳的狀態。
誤區
煲機是必須的但不是刻意的。煲機是爲了讓器材更快的進入正常狀態，因此煲機完全可以在正常聽音時進行。注意，新器材不能接受太過強烈的音量和曲風(金屬，美式搖滾等)
